DOES MOGUL DO SOCIAL MEDIA?
How do I make the most of social media to market my business?
Where do I even start?
At Mogul, we're asked these question every day.
Social media is now mainstream and it has become a key part of any digital marketing strategy. Giving our customers social media advice and support has become a core part of our business.
Over the last 12 months we've invested a lot of time in developing our social media skills and knowledge, and we've become very good at spotting what works and what doesn't – and where the best ROI is.
We've also put a lot of effort into educating our customers and the wider community about the benefits and potential pitfalls of social media as a marketing tool:
- we ran a successful series of social media workshops throughout last year
- we conducted the Hawke’s Bay digital marketing survey, so we understand how Hawke’s Bay businesses feel about and interact with social media
- and we have recently sponsored and helped to organise MediaSense, a major social media conference held at Black Barn Winery with international keynote speakers
So... we understand social media. We know it's not a fad (after all, 600 million Facebook users and 200 million Twitter users can't be wrong!). But we also understand that it’s important not to put all your eggs in the Facebook basket - or the Twitter basket.
And we do social media. From setting up a simple Facebook landing page, to a one-off social campaign to grow a SME database, to devising social media marketing strategies for large organisations, we've done it all and we can help you.

Social media comes to Hawke's Bay
Mediasense a huge success
We had a great day at Black Barn Winery last Friday for the first ever MediaSense social media marketing conference, and Mogul was proud to be a major sponsor of the event.
There was a really good turnout from Hawke's Bay locals and a lot of very high-quality guests travelled to the Bay from around New Zealand and overseas.
The best place to read commentary and see the photos is Picstream.co, Mogul's new social media aggregator.

And you can see all the photos here: http://picstream.co/pics/
We set up Picstream on a 40-inch LCD TV at the venue and it supplied the event with a constant stream of social media updates and photos throughout the day. It was especially cool to see feedback appearing from people who weren't even at the conference.
If you want to see Picstream in action, all you need to do is tweet with the hashtag '#mediasensenz' and your tweet will appear on Picstream.co
And if you want to use Picstream to bring your event to life, let us know.

How do you collect email addresses?
Your email list is pure gold
If someone asked me if I could choose just one way to market online, 9 times out of 10 I would say ‘email’. On the tenth time, I would hesitate, just about say ‘search engine optimisation’, and then say ‘email’.
If you’re serious about marketing your business online, concentrate on email first. Don’t even think about creating a Facebook landing page or a blog unless you’re already collecting email addresses and sending a regular email newsletter (think about it – how is anybody going to know about your Facebook landing page or your blog unless you tell them all about it? and what better, faster, cheaper way than by email?)
So, do we agree that email marketing is an extremely effective way to market your products and services? If you’re not doing it, you’re seriously missing a trick.
Whichever way you look at it, a business’s email list is gold. It is a huge asset. Done properly, an email address represents a mutually beneficial relationship between you and a client, prospect, or brand advocate.
